Clobber Passage - LGBTQIA2S+ Study
Perhaps the most used passage in the New Testament to abuse the LGBTQIA2S+ community, Pauls writing in Romans 1:18-2:4 is what is called a clobber passage. Paul only addresses sexual intercourse between people of the same sex with no sense of our current fuller understanding and experience of same sex relationships. Ironically a section of scripture intended to help us take a look at ourselves is used to judge others.

Human Love - LGBTQ+ Study
Genesis is used to argue for a natural order yet that natural order has resulted in the subjugation of women, justified slavery, led to the abuse of children and our horrible treatment of the environment. We no longer say that sex is for procreation only. In fact sex is for pleasure most of the time. In the two creation stories we find one form of relationship but that does not exclude all others. Genesis 1:26-28 Genesis 2:18-24

Reinterpreting the Scriptures - LGBTQ+ Study
Peter experiences a vision that shows him that he no longer has to be separated from the Gentiles. God challenges Peter's interpretation of the purity laws in Leviticus in order to break down barriers between people. How is God helping us reinterpret scripture in this day in relation to the LGBTQ+ community? Acts 10:9-35

Law Abused - LGBTQ+ Study
Leviticus is the most abused scripture when it comes to condemning to people in same relationships. These passages are speaking to Israel in order to protect them from a certain form of worship involving temple prostitution. They are not speaking to us about same sex relationships as we understand them today. Leviticus 18:3, 20 and 20:13
