In this Advent season we find such a contrast between what we hear in our lectionary scripture readings and what is happening around us. Malls are full of happy Christmas (or should I say holiday) songs, people are busy buying things and preparing for the family feast. We are also preparing but in a different way. We prepare by reflecting honestly on the dark corners of our lives that so desperately need Christ’s light. We don’t ignore the darkness but face it with the confidence that our Saviour walks with us, guiding us as a light in the darkness. Below is a sermon about what it means to face the darkness and rest in the real hope of Christ, a hope that does not disappoint.
