What does it mean to be a slave and to have a master? In North America we seem relatively free to make our own choices about life. We go where we want, eat what we want and associate with whoever. Are we, as William Henley wrote, the master of our fate? One doesn’t have to look far to realize that we are in fact slaves in many ways. And so we take a look at the life of fictional character, Kunte Kinte, whose enslavement made him long for the freedom that he once had.
